WPCA skiing reflection

Sore and tired! I was not ready that day today. I was super tired from a late night
and I really did not want to walk up a mountain, but I knew I had to I got up and
I looked like the walking dead so I gave my self a quick face mask and also a face scrub
and i felt much fresher. after I had freshened up I went and have breakfast I did not
feel like it and I thought I was going to be sick but turns out you feel much better
after some food even though I knew I get car sick and that I was going to puke
it up on the drive I knew it would give me that little bit of energy. As I was driving
to school, I felt like I had forgotten something but I couldn't remember what as I
got to school and we were doing the gear check I remembered well the two
things I had forgotten a bennie and also some sunnies luckily we live close
by so mum just zipped home and got them for me.

The drive up was actually pretty good I didn't feel sick at all but that's probably
because I was talking about hunting and who else better to do that with than
Kade and Derik and I can tell you now I may have told them some of
“Dads secret spots” by mistake sorry dad.

The walk up was SO HARD I HATED it and I know hate is a strong word but look out
year 7s it tough. I was expecting the track to be a little more what's the word?. This is it  MAINTAINED it was seriously loose rocks and
big 1m drops or steps it was crazy and hard, I felt so sorry for my
short stubby legs afterward. Walking up it felt like it never ended
Mr. S-W sad that we would be able to see the lodge after a while but
it felt like hours before we could see it. While I walk I like to know how
close I am or har much longer but Mr. S-w would not answer me he kept
saying “he doesn't answer dumb questions like that” so we kept walking
and finally after what felt like hours of walking I could see it a BIG RED
LODGE! It was such a relief and I felt like I had made it but little did know it was
still a 25-minute walk to it.

When I first saw the lodge from the outside it didn't look too bad and it actually
looked pretty with the roof covered in snow and the keas fighting on top but
then I walked into the bunk room corridor my jaw kind of dropped!  I had stayed
in nicer huts in the middle of a bush then this. It smelled funny to it had this
rotten coleslaw smell it was not pleasant at all. But once Sammi, Pippa and
Myself got in there it smelt like bubblegum but it took a lot of perfume.

Going out for my first ski ever really got my adrenaline pumping! I was super
amped and I was ready I got my boots fitted and got some ski and went outside
I thought I was going to be a pro but my thoughts suddenly changed as soon as I
got the first ski on. I was sliding everywhere and falling over from left to right it was
not easy at all. We all took off pour skis and walked over to our skiing spot it was
called chassis I think? We all walked up a wee bit on the beginner's slope and it
was  hard even doing that I finally stood up Mr. S-W turned me around and told
me to wedge my skis I tried but he just let me go and I went zoom the fell on my
but I would explain the rest of skiing that day but it's all the same.

After the first nights ski I think it was fair to say we were all tired we come in go
changed and I had a shower it was so good then I done a face mask it burned
because I was sunburned after my shower I went out and had tea it was ok the
mince was a bit tasteless though. That night we got told that the weather was
meant to turn to custed so the parent made the call that we would walk down
at 5 pm the next day which I think was a great idea.

Waking up the next morning was not fun Sammi and Pippa woke me up early
and I was super mad at them
I ended up getting up and I was  the walking dead I got up and there was hardly
any breakfast left witch I was mad about so I just went and had a few pringles
and got dressed then I went out for a wee play in the snow it was so fun Sammi
nearly fell into a wee gully with big rocks bellow but brian saved he I would of but
I was too busy laughing.

Skiing on the last day I thought I had made some real progress and
I was finally ready for the nutcracker and I was terrified to go on it but
I got it first try I didn't go up to high but in the end I did and I was turning
and going fast and I stopped wedging too because when I  did I went so
much faster I even nearly took out Mrs. Reid I was going so fast.

The walk down was not fun my hiking boots were knicked by a person
from lincoln high (mum was not happy) so I walked down in snow boots
they were not comfy on the way down we took it, slow witch,
I did not enjoy I just wanted to zoom off but  I'm glad I did not because
walking down in snow boots is not easy. And hour about passed and we
were finally down. It was such a relief. I was so happy and cold all my gear
wet because it was raining I just took off my jacked and we turned up the
heater and made it like a sauna it was so much better. It was a boring trip
back but we finally got to school then I got pick nd went to Mds for tea it was soo good.

WPCA Rockcliming

IT WAS AWESOME! I felt like I did the best of my ability., I woke up that morning and I was super tired and my body was aching I came to school had a gear check got into the vans and headed off to Punakaiki. When I arrived I was not scared is also found that I was surprisingly good at climbing.i started off with one of the small walls then I went to the big one I was ready I felt like I could do it... I was the first one to get to the highest wall and it felt amazing! it was a struggle as  there were a big dip and the wall and I did not think I could get over it but I was to pushed my self out of my comfort zone and I got over it I had got to the top, I looked down I wanted to come down instantly I was super high. It felt rewarding to get to the top tho when I was at the top the view was incredible you could see the sea and the river it was honestly amazing. We also got taught how to belay I was pretty good at it but I did not enjoy it as much climbing. I belayed sammi I pinched myself in the teeth (which is the thing that you thread the rope through and attach it to your harness). The day was super rewarding and I enjoyed it a lot the day had it's up and it had its downs but it was super fun.๐Ÿ™ˆ

The lightning strike (fake product)

Camping is better than staying in a hotel ?

Camping is better than staying in a hotel
Some people believe that staying in a hotel is better than sleeping in a tent but your wrong! Why waste your hard earnt cash for a hotel when you can be just a cosey tucked up in your sleeping bag looking up into the night sky.

The money. you can't argue that hotels aren't expensive but whereas camping is a
small cost or free. Just think about it would you rather pay heaps of money for a
nice hotel and be bored or stay in a tent have fun for no cost at all, I know what one I would rather. The food not only is it expensive in hotels you could have the exact same thing for cheaper, for example, take, the big kiwi breakfast! is it quite expensive for an egg a couple of saussies and a hash brown,
and all that costs, about $25, but if you cook that not only will you cook more,
you can cook more for less money?

The view. When you book a hotel your also paying for a better view?
but when your camping you can get a better view for no cost and well the view of a river and
trees and well that's just breathtaking and well looking at the sea and a road it just does not
take my breath away!

The adventure! When you stay in a hotel in a city you get bored
let's face it… your mum just wants to shop and you get dragged around
and then you make your bank account feel sad, but when your camping
you have the time of your life and never get bored going for walks
swimming jumping off a bank into the water.
The smell of pool chemicals in the hotel pool and no splashing signs or
a wide-open river with cliffs you can jump off and swings you can swing
off you just don't get the same kick off swimming in a pool than swimming
in a river. Nature the trees and the birds in the wilderness and looking
down from your expensive hotel balcony, you see well cars and a few birds
but it's just not the same as the wilderness.

Family bonding. When you camp you go for walks with your
family, go swimming, roast marshmallows around the campfire,
and when you stay in a hotel you go to a mall then split up to different
shops and also you can't toast marshmallows around a fire you just play
on your phones and use the free wifi if you have it).

When you're with your family and camping you don't get bored there are
heaps to do, go for walks, go swimming, etc but you do get bored in your
hotel room whats there to do lay on your ben eat an expensive chocolate bar
from the mini fridge otherwise there is nothing really to do.
Shopping your in a city normally when you stay in a hotel and I know all we
do is shop if we get bored well what else is there to do, hotels are boring
and you actually have to leave your hotel to have fun.

In conclusion, camping is way better than staying in a hotel no matter how
flash that hotel is there a heap of things to do it does not cost much and
you get to spend time with your family, and spending time with your family
is better than a five-star hotel.

WPCA Rafting the Arnold

Holy moly what an amazing experience it was scary but heck it was fun...
flying over the waves and spinning because of hidden rocks under the water,
I would do it 100 more times if I could. I just loved the thrill of it it got my adrenaline pumping
I was not even that scared I wanted to jump to another raft but I did not want to fall in so I gave it a pass
maybe on a warmer day!

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Part was pyramid rock, so on this particular day, we could not see it because
the river was higher than usual. And where about 100m away from where it usually is and then we keep
on cruising down the river and then boom we got stuck on it then we dropped about 90cm down into the
water again! And we got stuck because the current was going towards us and it was pulling us back it
was very challenging but very cool it was such a relief when we got out of it.

We passed a dead cow that had been there for a long time I was dry retching and it
was so bad it was this rotten smell, in the end apart from being cold and wet it was such an amazing
an experience I loved it so much.
